Commission a picture

Commissioning process

To help make the commissioning process of ordering your artwork as easy as possible please take a moment to read the following information.

Below I will explain the process and if you have any further questions, please feel free to contact me.

Step one: The reference photograph

The first step in the process is choosing the perfect reference photograph. I can offer to help and guide you to choose the perfect high resolution reference photo of your pet. Also have a look at my blog on tips for taking the best image of your pet.

Step two: Choosing a size

Next you will need to decide the size of the artwork and the background colour of the paper. I work with A4 and A3 size paper using the highest quality papers in order to produce your artwork. See below the list of sizes and prices and how they complement the composition of the piece.

Step three: Schedule

Before confirming your order, I will advise you of my schedule so that we can agree the timescale for your pet portrait. I will also need to know when you would like your artwork to be delivered. Is it a gift and required for a specific date?

Step four: Confirmation and Deposit

Once you are ready to order your artwork, we can discuss any special requests that you may have  and any special features that you wish to appear in the portrait. Once the order has be confirmed a 25% non-refundable deposit will be requested before any work is started.

Step five: The drawing

I quote two weeks to complete a commissioned piece. However, this may vary dependant on the complexity of the piece and season of the year. Once I have drawn the picture I will send an email with a series of images of the portrait for your approval.

Step six: Delivery

Before I send the portrait to you I will raise an invoice for the remainder of the balance. Once the payment has been received I will carefully package and send the work by registered post to your chosen address. Quotes for postage will be priced separately and calculated based on the size of the artwork and its destination. You will receive your artwork ready to frame and enjoy, along with care instructions and a Certificate of Authenticity.
